I did recently review Now, Diabolical and while in the mood thought it would be a good idea to continue on with their catalogue in order to make note of any improvements or otherwise, per release. For me Age Of Nero came with big expectations only 2 years after the legendary Now, Diabolical release. The first track 'Commando' leaves you in no misunderstanding this is going to follow the Now, Diabolical template. Heavy riffing guitars from Satyr and some incredible drum work from Frost. The gravel vox from Satyr is unmistakenly him. I have to say though the tempo of the lead track is a bit bland, travelling at half pace through most of the track. The single 'Black Crow On A Tombstone' is a great song and perhaps an outlier for the record, as it is certainly more up-beat than the earlier tracks. All up this is a quick review and can be simply summed up by the fact if you were a fan of Now, Diabolical you will find elements of this release filling in that urge for more songs or that itch. But is not as engaging, song-by-song. I don't like to make direct comparisons album to album, however these are so close and only 2 years apart. You can certainly see the influence but sub-par in places.
