Outside of Motley Crue, Neil has also released albums as a solo artist. Although his later life has seen media focus more on his poor live performances and off-stage controversy, Neil's visual aesthetic and distinctive singing voice are still considered synonymous with the American glam metal movement of the 1980s.

Dickinson began his career in music fronting small pub bands in the 1970s while attending school in Sheffield and university in London. In 1979, he joined British new wave heavy metal band Samson, with whom he gained some popularity under the stage name "Bruce Bruce" and performed on two studio records. He left Samson in 1981 to join Iron Maiden, replacing Paul Di'Anno, and debuted on their 1982 album 'The Number of the Beast'. During his first tenure in the band, they issued a series of U.S. and U.K. platinum and gold albums in the 1980s and early 1990s.

'Lightning To The Nations' (also known as 'The White Album') is the debut album by Diamond Head. It was originally self-released in a plain white sleeve with no title or track listing, and was subsequently named after the first track on the album.

Diamond Head are an English heavy metal band formed in Stourbridge, West Midlands, in 1976. They were part of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) movement and is acknowledged by bands such as Metallica and Megadeth as a significant early influence.
