'Nightmares As Extensions Of The Waking State' is the thirteenth studio album by Katatonia. It is the first without founding guitarist Anders Nystrom, who left earlier in the year due to creative differences.

Katatonia is a Swedish heavy metal band formed in Stockholm in 1991 by Jonas Renkse and Anders Nystrom. The band started as a studio-only project for the duo, as an outlet for the band's love of death metal. Increasing popularity led them to add more band members for live performances, though outside of the band's founders, the lineup was a constantly changing, revolving door of musicians throughout the 1990s, notably including Mikael Akerfeldt of the band Opeth for a period. After two death/doom albums problems with Renkse's vocal cords coupled with new musical influences led the band away from the screamed vocals of death metal to a more traditional, melodic form of gothic heavy metal music.

Their first three black metal albums - 'A Blaze In The Northern Sky' (1992), 'Under A Funeral Moon' (1993) and 'Transilvanian Hunger' (1994) - are often dubbed the 'Unholy Trinity'. 'Spiritual Black Dimensions' is the fourth studio album by Dimmu Borgir. It is a first release featuring keyboardist Mustis and the clean vocals of ICS Vortex, and the last one with long-time drummer Tjodalv, guitarist Astennu, and bassist Nagash. The album marks major compositional and stylistic shift from romantic influences of their previous albums to more sinister and macabre sound. In terms of production, it is a second consecutive full-length Dimmu Borgir album recorded and produced in Abyss Studio, Sweden by Peter Tagtgren. According to the band, they faced difficulties when mixing the record due too many recorded layers, hence two different versions of the album were mixed in the studio. Eventually the second one was released.

Dimmu Borgir is a Norwegian symphonic black metal band from Jessheim, formed in 1993. The name is derived from Dimmuborgir, a volcanic formation in Iceland, the name of which means 'dark cities' in Icelandic, Faroese and Old Norse. The band has been through numerous lineup changes over the years; vocalist Shagrath and rhythm guitarist Silenoz are the only original members who still remain.

'No Heavy Petting' is the fifth studio album by UFO. It is the first UFO album to feature a full-time keyboard player as a member of the band, making this their first record as a five-piece band. Keyboardist Danny Peyronel only stayed in the band for this one album. 'No Heavy Petting' was a rule posted in many public baths in England during the 1970s and 1980s.
