'Danse Macabre' is a boxed set of the first three albums by Celtic Frost. It also contains tracks for various E.P.s and singles, and early rehearsals.

Celtic Frost was a Swiss metal band from Zurich formed in June 1984 by guitarist and vocalist Thomas Gabriel Fischer and bassist Martin Eric Ain after terminating the band Hellhammer a month prior. They are remembered for their strong influence on the development of several varieties of extreme metal and for their avant-garde approach to music more generally. After the release of 'Vanity/Nemesis' (1990), the group temporarily disbanded. They then re-formed in 2001 and released the critically acclaimed 'Monotheist' (2006), and finally disbanded permanently following Fischer's departure in 2008. His following band, Triptykon, was seen as a continuation of the legacy Celtic Frost had left.

Cold Chisel are an Australian pub rock band, which formed in Adelaide in 1973. The group disbanded in late 1983 but subsequently reformed several times. Musicologist Ian McFarlane wrote that they became "one of Australia's best-loved groups" as well as "one of the best live bands", fusing "a combination of rockabilly, hard rock and rough-house soul'n'blues that was defiantly Australian in outlook." Cold Chisel's popularity is almost entirely confined to Australia and New Zealand, with their songs and musicianship highlighting working class life.

The album contains songs from the band's performances at the L'Olympia Theatre in Paris on January 29, 1968, and the Capitol Theatre in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on March 19, 1968. The concert in Paris had been issued as part of the 1991 box set Stages. The three songs from the concert in Ottawa are sourced from a previously undiscovered tape and were recorded during the first show of that evening. The second show at the Capitol Theatre in Ottawa had been issued in October 2001 as the album Live In Ottawa.

INXS (a phonetic play on "in excess") were an Australian rock band, formed as the Farriss Brothers in 1977 in Sydney, New South Wales. For 20 years, they were fronted by Michael Hutchence, whose magnetic stage presence made him the focal point of the band. Initially known for their new wave/pop style, the band later developed a harder pub rock style that included funk and dance elements. After Hutchence's death on 22 November 1997, INXS made appearances with several guest singers, and toured and recorded with Jon Stevens (Noiseworks) as lead singer, beginning in 2000. In 2005, members of INXS participated in 'Rock Star: INXS', a reality television series that culminated in the selection of Canadian J.D. Fortune as their new lead singer. Irish singer-songwriter Ciaran Gribbin replaced Fortune as lead singer in 2011. During a concert on 11 November 2012, INXS stated that the performance would be their last, although they did not announce the band's permanent retirement. The band have won six Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) awards, including three for "Best Group" in 1987, 1989 and 1992; the band was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2001. INXS has sold over 50 million albums worldwide, making them one of Australia's highest selling music acts of all time.

'Project 1950' is the sixth studio album by Misfits. It consists of cover versions of rock and roll songs from the 1950s and 60's and marks bassist Jerry Only's debut as the Misfits' lead singer. Except for Only, no members of the band from their previous album returned for Project 1950.

Misfits are an American punk rock band often recognized as the pioneers of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. The group was founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey, U.S.A. by vocalist, songwriter and keyboardist Glenn Danzig. Over the next six years, Danzig and bassist Jerry Only were the group's main members through numerous personnel changes. During this period, they released several E.P.s and singles, and with Only's brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983), both considered touchstones of the early-1980s hardcore punk movement. The band has undergone many lineup changes over the years, with bassist Jerry Only being the group's only constant member.

Motorhead were an English hard rock band formed in 1975 by bassist and lead vocalist Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister, guitarist Larry Wallis and drummer Lucas Fox. Lemmy was also the primary songwriter and only constant member. The band are often considered a precursor to the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM), which re-energised heavy metal in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Though several guitarists and drummers have played in Motorhead, most of their best-selling releases feature drummer Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor and guitarist 'Fast' Eddie Clarke. Lemmy died on 28 December 2015 from cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure, after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. The day after his death, drummer Mikkey Dee and guitarist Phil Campbell both confirmed that Motorhead had disbanded.
