Destruction is a German thrash metal band formed in 1982. They have been credited as one of 'The Big Four' of the German thrash metal scene, the others being Kreator, Sodom and Tankard. In addition to helping pioneer black metal, Destruction was part of the second wave of thrash metal in the mid-to-late 1980s, along with American bands Testament, Sacred Reich, Death Angel and Dark Angel. |

'Eternal Devastation' is the second album by Destruction. It showed that the band, while still rooted in the speed metal/proto-black metal-influenced style of material evident on earlier releases, had started moving in the direction of a more contemporary thrash metal style. This is the last studio album to feature drummer Thomas Sandmann, who left the band later in 1986 and was replaced by Oliver Kaiser. |

'Mad Butcher' is the second E.P. by Destruction. This is the band's first studio recording featuring a four-piece lineup, instead of a trio. Drummer Thomas Sandmannhad left the band and two new members had entered the group: a new drummer, Oliver Kaiser, and a new guitarist, Harry Wilkens. "Mad Butcher," the first song of the album, is a re-recording from the 'Sentence Of Death' E.P. (1984) with a faster tempo and double solos from Sifringer and Wilkens. |

'Release From Agony' is the third studio album by Destruction. This was their last studio album to feature bassist and lead vocalist Marcel Schirmer until he rejoined the band in 1999. Musically and lyrically, it is much darker than Destruction's previous albums, and the album saw the band resemble a mixture of thrash metal with technical and progressive elements. |
