Flotsam And Jetsam is an American thrash metal band that was formed in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1981. Before settling on its current name in 1984, the band had existed under three different names, Paradox, Dredlox and Dogz. They are also notable for featuring a then-unknown Jason Newsted, who was the band's bassist from 1981 to 1986, when he left the band shortly after the release of their debut album to join Metallica. Despite not achieving similar levels of commercial success as some of their thrash metal contemporaries, the band emerged as part of the second wave of the genre in the mid-to-late 1980s (along with Sepultura, Testament and Death Angel). |

'No Place For Disgrace' is the second album by Flotsam And Jetsam. This marked the band's first album release through a major label, Elektra Records, and was also their first album with the bass guitarist Troy Gregory, who had replaced Jason Newsted when the latter left the band in 1986 to join Metallica. Despite not playing on the album, three songs on it were co-written by Newsted. |

'When The Storm Comes Down' is the third studio album by Flotsam And Jetsam. It was the last album with Troy Gregory on bass guitar, as he left the band in 1991 to join Prong. It was also the first Flotsam and Jetsam album not to include songwriting contributions by former bassist Jason Newsted (Metallica), who co-wrote the band's first two albums. It saw the band take a different direction, musically and lyrically, from their previous two albums. |

'Cuatro' (meaning 'four' in Spanish) is the fourth studio album by Flotsam And Jetsam. This was the band's first album with bassist Jason Ward, who had replaced Troy Gregory the year before. While Cuatro continued the experimentation with a progressive/technical sound that began on Flotsam And Jetsam's previous album, When The Storm Comes Down (1990), it saw them move to a rather slower, slightly more melodic approach. Similar to its predecessor, Cuatro's lyrical themes are more about politics and society as opposed to the occult and evil themes that were used on the band's first two albums. Chris Cornell of Soundgarden co-wrote 'The Message' and is credited as Christopher Cornell. |
