Reign In Blood

Slayer
Reign In Blood
[Album]

7 October 1986

'Reign In Blood' is the third studio album by Slayer. The album was the band's first collaboration with producer Rick Rubin, whose input helped the band's sound evolve. The release date of the album was delayed because of concerns regarding the lyrical subject matter of the opening track 'Angel Of Death', which refers to Josef Mengele and describes acts such as human experimentation that he committed at the Auschwitz concentration camp. The band's members stated that they did not condone Nazism and were merely interested in the subject. It was well received by both critics and fans, and is often mentioned among the greatest heavy metal albums ever recorded.

South Of Heaven
[Album]

5 July 1988

'South Of Heaven' is the fourth studio album by Slayer. Given the innovative speed metal pace of their previous album 'Reign In Blood', Slayer deliberately slowed the tempo on 'South Of Heaven' and used undistorted guitars and toned-down vocals. It reached number 57 on the Billboard 200.

Nevermind
[Album]

24 September 1991

'Nevermind' is the second studio album by Nirvana. It was their first release on a major label and the first to feature drummer Dave Grohl. Produced by Butch Vig, it features a more polished, radio-friendly sound than the band's prior work. It was recorded at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, California, and Smart Studios in Madison, Wisconsin, in May and June 1991, and mastered that August at the Mastering Lab in Hollywood, California. The album became an unexpected critical and commercial success, reaching the top 10 on charts across the world. On January 11, 1992, it knocked Michael Jackson's 'Dangerous' out of the number one spot on the U.S. Billboard 200 and was selling approximately 300,000 copies a week. The album also garnered the band three Grammy Award nominations in total across the 34th and 35th Grammy Awards, including Best Alternative Music Album.

Soup
[Album]

15 August 1995

'Soup' is the second studio album by Blind Melon. It is the band's last album released during the lifetime of vocalist Shannon Hoon. It received generally mixed reviews from critics and fared poorly commercially, with the album only reaching number 28 on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart and going on to sell 217,000 copies in the United States by October 1996. Hoon's death from a fatal drug overdose two months after the album's release resulted in the album's promotion being abruptly cut off, further affecting sales.
