Metallica - Live At The Old Waldorf, San Francisco, California (October 18, 1982) [Official Bootleg] Details: 10 February 2004 (International) LiveMetallica - No Serial (8x Digital [FLAC 16-Bit / 44.1kHz]) Length: 39:45 This is rough and raw. James wails like an out of tune banshee, and Lars sounds like he is playing a set of cardboard boxes instead of drums. The guitars are low in the mix, but Dave's solos generally cut through with some clarity. There are earlier recorded Metallica concerts out in the wild, but this one is by far the most superior in terms of sound quality. Put this in the context of 1982 - very few bands were playing this fast or extreme.

Metallica - Live At The Agora Ballroom, Cleveland, Ohio (December 18, 1983) [Official Bootleg] Details: 10 February 2004 (International) LiveMetallica - No Serial (14x Digital [FLAC 16-Bit / 44.1kHz]) Length: 1:26:30 The sound quality is low, but the band is in fine form on this show from the tour supporting Raven. James still has a long way to go with his live vocals, and his stage-craft is still cringe-worthy in places. The band is tight (and slighty out of tune) throughout. For the most part this is an interesting listen, with early versions of Ride The Lightning tracks.

They aren't as tight as usual, and athough his vocals are together, James sounds like he isn't really putting in 100%.
