The city of Waterdeep

Waterdeep, The City Of Splendors, was a bustling city on The Sword Coast. It was the largest regional centre on the whole coast, and as such attracted many travellers. Some merchants had termed Waterdeep the best supply centre in the world, with the largest collection of superb craft workers, experts, useful contacts, and potential hirelings to be found anywhere. Others warned that it represented a huge army of potential enemies for those who weren’t careful - and everyone agreed that its busy streets were full of spies.

Waterdhavian noble families and guilds held tremendous political and economic sway up and down The Sword Coast, but within the city itself, true power lay with The Masked Lords Of Waterdeep - individuals who convened secretly and whose identities were largely unknown.

The city was guarded by the City Watch. They performed every day policing duties within the city and typically patrol in groups of four, with two patrolmen, one armar, and one civilar. The City Watch never left the city walls.
