I'm a child of the early 70s, so Hendrix was just a memory by the time I was born. In fact, it wasn't until the 1980s that I recall hearing his music. The first time I was 'experienced' was when I heard one of the so-called Alan Douglas abominations - the chopped and overdubbed 'Crash Landing' album. The songs 'Somewhere' and the title track captured me immediately, but the song that nailed it for me was the proto-metal dirge of 'Peace In Mississippi'. As a big fan of metal, that was all I needed to get me interested.

Over the years a countless number of official and unofficial Hendrix albums, E.P.s, and singles have been released, and as a die hard fan I became obsessed with no only hearing all, but collecting it also. I often found multiple (but substantially different) versions of the same songs, and quickly realised the quest to understand when recordings were made or who played on them to be just as important (and difficult) as finding the songs themselves. So much information has been written and collected about the man (in both books and online), but none of it was all bunded together in one place neatly for me to reference - so this site was born. This is really just for my own reference, but feel free to use it for your own research if it is useful.
