News: Members And Performers Added

Artist Members and Release Performers have been added to the Core Discographies. Over time (there is lots of data to add!) you will slowly start to see band Members for each Artist added, and it will show who the Performers were on any given Release. This also means you can look for a person (an Artist Member) and see what Artists they are part of and what Releases they have Performed on.

Some examples -

The Metallica Artist page now shows band Members.

The Black Sabbath 'Paranoid' page now shows who the Performers were on the Release.

The Ozzy Osbourne Member page now shows what bands he is Member of and what Releases he is a Performer on.

The Members page showing all Artist Members.

I don't expect every Artist or Release in the database will have this information, as obviously there is so much to add, but also because some obscure bands, well.., who cares who played on them? I am mainly interested in big name key players.

As part of this change i have removed the 'Associated With' fields from all pages, as they are now redundant.

I will add the fields to the Physical Media and Digital Library pages in the future.

News: Newsletter Changes

I have made some changes to the Newsletter that it will now display any files I have added to the Digital Library and any new Physical Releases I have purchased. Some of the lists will overlap in content if items appear in more than one.

You can scroll past the Core Discographies updates to see them.

Doro

Doro
Doro

[Album]
25 September 1990
Heavy Metal

'Doro' is the second solo album by Doro. Doro chose for herself a new musical direction, consciously separating the music creative process from normal band dynamics, the contrary of what she had always done in the past with Warlock. The album production was put in the hands of KISS bassist Gene Simmons, Doro's childhood idol. The resulting sound is much smoother and polished than any Warlock album, in the vein of many American glam metal recordings of the time, and the lyrics give up completely the gothic atmosphere present in the offerings of Doro Pesch's previous band. Despite the commercial appeal of the music and the high economic effort in producing it, the album did not have the critical and sales success that was expected and remained the last studio album by Doro published in the United States for ten years.

It was also the first Flotsam and Jetsam album not to include songwriting contributions by former bassist Jason Newsted (Metallica), who co-wrote the band's first two albums. It saw the band take a different direction, musically and lyrically, from their previous two albums.
