The worlds of Dungeons & Dragons contain many creatures. Some you will recognise from our own world, but others are like nothing you have ever seen before.
Here's a few that you may encounter -
Of course there are dragons - the game is named after them. These mighty wyrms are common in some worlds of Dungeons & Dragons and very rare in others. Regardless, they are always creatures of great majesty and power - even if some are fuelled by pure evil.
Apart from obvious humanoids like humans, elves, dwarves, and halflings there is also a range of other creatures that fall into that category. Goblins, hobgoblins, lizardfolk, troglodytes, the frog-like bullywug, and the hyena related gnolls are just a few.
Skeletons and zombies, ghosts and ghouls, even vampires. The undead creatures are commonplace in most worlds of D&D.
These creatures are not natural in any way, and have been created by ingenuity and/or magic. These include golems, animated objects, clockwork creatures, and scarecrows.
Monstrosities are alive but not natural, and often their origin is magic or experimentation. They include krakens, doppelgangers, harpys, hydras, manticores, and all sorts of other dangerous abominations.
Fiends are creatures from other planes born to destroy. They include demons, devils, and succubi.
